The Greater New Orleans Chapter, Ladies Auxiliary, Leukemia Society of America was organized in 1969 by a group of ladies dedicated to finding a cure for leukemia. Proceeds from early fund-raising efforts were donated to the new leukemia ward at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and to other local leukemia research efforts. Later efforts expanded to include leukemia research efforts in the Gulf South region, including Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The organization was incorporated in 1971 and became known as the Ladies Leukemia League, Inc. (LLL).

This 501 c 3, all-volunteer organization has gained the reputation of being an organization of dedicated women volunteers making a genuine and meaningful contribution to finding a cure for leukemia. It has been blessed with excellent leadership and has enjoyed enthusiastic support from the community for its fund-raising events.

The annual luncheon and fashion show, always enhanced by various drawings for special prizes, has had recent attendance of close to 1100 people; it has grown bigger and better with age. From the early days, when fashions and models were provided by Kreegers, to the more recent gala presentations by Dillards, the early-December Fête de Noël has become the premier and eagerly anticipated opening to the holiday season in New Orleans. To date, LLL has raised over $4M for leukemia research.
